One Dead After Car Hits House

A man is dead and his passenger is in the hospital after the car he was driving went though a block wall and into the second story of a house in Tustin.

Around 02:20 Saturday morning. the Tustin Police Department began receiving calls about a car that had crashed into a residence at 13739 Iriquois. TPD and OCFA responded and found a male deceased and a female with minor injuries.

The vehicle that hit the house appeared to have come from San Juan at a high rate of speed and became airborne after launching off the storm channel embankment that runs parallel to Browning.

The residents of the house were evaluated on scene and did not have any significant injuries. Their pet dog was also unharmed.

Tustin Police on scene remarked that alcohol was not thought to be a contributing factor, but that the investigation is in its’ early stages. The weather at the time was very foggy, but it is not thought to have played a role.

The house is expected to be red-tagged and declared unfit for habitation.
